Located in the village of Watkins Glen, not far from the Finger Lakes of New York, is a 778-acre state park known as Watkins Glen State Park. Open to the public in 1863 - but privately run as a tourist resort until 1906 when the state purchased the land - this park features three trails and 19 waterfalls. Since 1924, the park has been managed by the Finger Lakes Region of the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation.
