Created in the early 1940s by the South Carolina Public Service Authority, Lake Moultrie is fed by Lake Marion through a diversion canal in South Carolina. This beautiful lake - named after Governor William Moultrie - covers approximately 60,000 acres and is littered with alligators and cypress trees alike. It is suffice to say that much of the lake went unexplored in my short, single-day outing, and there were plenty of trees that went undocumented. I feel, however, that this photograph really sums up the lake in a beautiful manner.
