Huron falls

Edition of 20

Huron Falls - one of the 24 named waterfalls of Ricketts Glen State Park - is the fifth named waterfall in the Glen Leigh section of the park. The waterfall is approximately 41 feet tall with a 90-degree turn in it as it slides down sandstone from the Huntley Mountain Formation. This waterfall was named after the Iroquoian-speaking tribe known as the Hurons, or Wyandots, who once lived in modern day Ontario. Decimated by disease - and then further defeated by the Iroquois by 1649 - the people who call themselves Hurons now live in Quebec.
